Displaying subcategory products

I have 100 categories and around 20 subcategories within each. Sometimes, the subcategories are too narrow and not always required.

Is there a way of displaying all the products in the category, so that customers don't always have to drill down to the subcategories.

I like having the subcategories as an option, but it would be good if they didn't HAVE to be used when looking at particular products.

Am I making sense?

If you had a Category A with 5 Sub-Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and each Sub-Category had 1 item each. You want to have all 5 products shown on the main page when the Category A is clicked so the customer doesn't have to click a Sub-Category?

To my knowledge you cannot have products in a Category if there are Sub-Categories. If you choose to have a Sub-Category then you cannot also put products in there too.

However, somebody else might know how to display Category A-1, Category A-2, Category A-3, Category A-4 & Category A-5 when Category A is clicked?

I don't think it can be done.
