Can I display a default product image if no image available?

Hi There,
Just wondering if it's possible to display a default product image if no other image is available? So, if I leave the image field blank, I'd like it to display my "no image available" picture.
Can this be done?
I'm currently on 1.3.7.

1. If you create a product data entry in your zenshop, and attribute an image file to it, that image will display (if the actual image resides in the "IMAGES" folder).

2. If you attribute an image name to a product (eg: picture1.jpg), but DO NOT have the actual image in the "IMAGES" folder, then you will see your products in your zenshop with a HYPERLINK where the image ought to be. (This is to prevent unsightly browser image placeholders from displaying).

3. If you leave the image reference totally BLANK in your product data, then it will display the no_image.gif (or .jpg) that you have assigned when there is no image to reference. (Assuming your No_Image Status is set to "true".)

If you want a generic image to show, rather than the no_product.gif image in the case of "3" above, then create your image in any image editor and save it as "generic_product.jpg" (or similar)

FTP that image to the IMAGES folder.

Then, in ADMIN...IMAGES...Product Image - No Image Picture, change the name to generic_product.jpg. Just above that, make sure No_Product Image status = 1.

You could also assign this image to any product that does not yet have an image. Just open the product edit screen in ADMIN...CATALOG...Categories/PRoducts and assign the image to it (at the bottom of the edit screen).

Yes, you can!
Use photoshop to create the size of your "no image Available"
Call her no_image.jpg
Use the text mode to place the wording inside the frame.

1. Use your FTP program to upload the no_image.jpg to:
2. includes/ images
3. On Calalog page insert this image for the picture

is there a way to add a default image to products that have no image after the product has been uploaded?

I have over 20k products and a few hundred that have no image.

There's no reason to add the "no image" image to each and every product that doesn't have an image.

There is a default "no image" image included with Zen Cart.

To use (or replace) it, check in admin>configuration>images. You'll find two settings near the bottom of the page (near the middle if you have IH2 installed).

Product Image - No Image Status
Use automatic No Image when none is added to product
0= off
1= On

Product Image - No Image picture
Use automatic No Image when none is added to product
Default = no_picture.gif

If you wish to replace the default "no image" image, you can put the name in the second setting listed above. To use the "no image" image, set the first setting to 1.

Mary Ellen - I don't think this solves the problem on the product info page though does it?

You would need to make sure you have an image called 'no_product_MED.gif' in the images/medium folder otherwise the product name is written. If the medium image exists the text 'larger image' still appears which may not be appropriate?
