Question about setting product "units"

I set up a shop for a client - she sells cookies by the 1/2 dozen, 1 dozen, or 2 dozen (for example). If I want to ensure that a minimum order (with the min order mod) of 2 dozen is fulfilled would I have to do something like this:

1 unit = 1 cookie
so 1/2 dozen = 6 units
1 dozen = 12 units?

I had previously set it up so that each item (by cookie type) was simply a product of its own -- so 1/2 dozen of chocolate chip is 1 unit -- but I suppose that won't help me in the long run. Am I on the right track here?

Or is there a better way?

You could set the unit up to be dz so ordering 1 nets 1dz and lter the units in admin to be 0.5 so an order o, 0.5 will also succeed.

My head was spinning with this last night, trying to make it make sense before diving in. But 2 questions ...

1. Where do you define the "unit"?? I suddenly can't find that?!! Is it a per product setting? And if so

2. Almost all of the products are priced based on attributes (ie: Chocolate Chip cookies are priced at $0.00 -- 1/2 dozen is one attribute with a price, 1 dozen is an attribute with a different price.

Unfortunately this is through settings in several places and I hope that I cover all of them(this works but you might miss a setting or 2 listening to me)

admin > config > stock > Product Quantity Decimals > set to the minuium 0.5 for your case

Product setting screen:

set price for one cookie

Product Qty Minimum: probably 0.5 for half dz
Product Qty Maximum: 0
Product Qty Units: what ever you want the incremental units to be

Attributes controller after creating name of this and value of dozen??:

Price Factor: Offset:
5
or
6.......................-1

for half dz and

11
or
12......................-1 for a dozen

I would have to go back and actually see how this displays but have used this for items by the each and by the case as selectable
