Problems with Zen image files?

I am perplexed. This has happened on two computers now in the space of a month and a half. The old dying computer, and the lovely new computer. When I download zencart 1.3.8a, it would seem that the main images folder, and the template_default images are corrupt. I want to add that I am sure this is my problem and not Zen's but I thought I would try here after searching microsoft. Ok...

What happens is that when I open one of the image folders in the download it crashes whatever program I am using to open it with. My computer does not do this with folder containing image files that I made myself. So maybe I have a setting wrong in the download? I have no clue and the error reports are (to me) useless.

I want to add that everything seems to work fine once it is uploaded to the server so I don't know. Thanks much in advance. :)

Kate

P.S. I am using WindowsXP

Re: Problems with Zen image files?

One more thing...

As a test I downloaded a fresh copy of the Zen files today. It still does the same thing. Bah...

:P Thanks and have a great day!

Re: Problems with Zen image files?

Check the Transfer Mode on your FTP Program ... usually setting it to Auto will work right ...

Images need to be Binary ... and Auto should set this right for you ...

Also what are you using to unzip the download?

Re: Problems with Zen image files?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. :) I think the problem is actually occuring when windows XP downloads the zip file. Cause once they are uploaded to the server they seem to work fine. But I can edit or put anything in those folders while it is on my hard drive. Are there settings in windows that I can set, or should I try opening it with winrar first without saving and extract that way? Thanks again. :)

Re: Problems with Zen image files?

Report on experiment: Downloaded fresh files, got winzip, extracted with that, no luck. template_default > images and template_default > buttons > english still crashing explorer.

I have been trying to think what the two computers had in common, and winRar and XP Home were the only variable. Could it be something in the way windows is downloading the zip file?

Re: Problems with Zen image files?

Can you view the images in an image program? PaintShop, Photoshop, etc?

Re: Problems with Zen image files?

Not the ones in the out of the box image folders. The mere act of listing them brings everything to it's knees. lol. All other images open ok in photoshop, at least the ones I made are. I am checking everything at the moment. Winzip's site suggested virus, so I am scanning both hard drives. I checked the Zen files in winzip and they all tested ok. I just don't know. I think I am going to call Dell and see if they have any ideas. It is just those 3 folders though. crazy. I don't know. shrug

thanks for working with me by the way, I really appreciate it. :)
