install success, but now a 500 error :(

Hi :)

I seemed to install Zen okay on my Bluehost site, and I can get into the Admin pages fine, but viewing my main store page doesnt work: I get this error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

IN theory, the address should be https://www.lightfootbaby.com/zencart/index.php

I can't think what i've done wrong! as I said, I accessed admin pages and can make changes there just fine.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Odds are the path is incorrect in your: includes/configure.php file.

Since your Admin section is working, compare your 'admin/includes/configure.php' file to the other one and make sure the paths to your site are the same.

Also check your htaccess for any flag or register entries or temp rename it to see if this is the issue

success woot! okay but nowwwwwwwww..... the red message at the top about the configure.php won't go away, and i definitely changed permissions for that file.

If you changed them via ftp, it may not (well... isn't) be enough. Login to your host control panel and change the permissions from there.

hrm, i just did that, still no joy. :unsure:

What did you set? 444? And... just need to ask... You did set the one in includes/config.php and not the one in admin/includes/config.php

i did both actually :) first to 644, then to 444 to try that. i still have the red message - does everyone see that or just me?

When you set it to 444, did it "stick", or did it flip back to 644 automatically?
If it flips back, you'll have to use your control panel instead of FTP to set the permissions.

If it's taking 444 but still showing the warning, what happens if you set it to 400?

okay i've looked at both in my bluehost file manager, and they show as 644. Should I change them to 444 then?

there we go :) now all i have to do is figure out how to redesign the entire site and add products, and i'll be away! :blush:
