Easy populate - how to upload attributes

I've installed Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 to see if it will work for https://www.prestonribbons.com/catalog. This is a showcase catalog - no sales. As the readme file indicated, I downloaded the model/name and attributes from EP acquire spreadsheet templates. Is there a way to upload the products including attributes in one spreadsheet using this version of EP? Will Advanced EP do this?

Thanks

Re: Easy populate - how to upload attributes

I see that this question has been read but no replies so far. Can anyone refer me to another forum that would be able to answer this?

Thanks

What attributes are you trying to upload? I've used EZ Pop a lot. I bought EZ Pop Advanced a couple weeks ago for 1 of our websites and so far it has been a real disappointment, and support is almost non-existent. Maybe I can tell you how to do it in EZ Pop Basic if you let me know exactly what you are trying to do.

Re: Easy populate - how to upload attributes

Sizes are the attributes I'm trying to load along with the product info. The site I'm working on is https://www.prestonribbons.com/catalog. Its a catalog site, no sales. A php programmer I hired modified the product page to display sizes in columns to meet a design requirement (see Ribbon Catalog > Birds).
The ideal loader would allow loading of model-category-name-product-attributes all in one go. My ignorance of the mysteries of mySQL no doubt prevent me from seeing why that would be difficult to program. It must be a common issue.

In any case, I still can't get my db to load any of the standard CSV files via Epop. Interesting that you have tried the Advanced Epop and had no luck. I was just about to buy it - maybe I'll wait a bit and continue to use Basic.

Thanks

Re: Easy populate - how to upload attributes

EZ Pop basic can upload almost anything that you can set manually in Admin. I don't see a spot for size: do you have custom attributes? Anyway, a good way to find out what cols you need is to set something manually, then download the EP file to see what data cols you have to work with. I'm sorry, I don't know anything about attributes.

I'd suggest adding a tag to the end of your descriptions. In Excel, you can add a new line in a cell by hitting Alt-Enter. If you have your desc in column b and the size in column d, you can concatenate the desc with the following formula:

=B2 & CHAR(10) & "<b>Size:</b>" & D2

This would give you the desc from col B, then a new line, then html for bold, the word size, and the size data from column d (all in row 2).

After you make this formula in all of the rows you need, copy it and use edit/paste special / values to replace the formula with text. When you upload it will be fine. You can add any HTML that will work in a desc: maybe an HR? I've never tried that. But you can certainly format it differently enough so that it stands out at the end of your desc.

Sorry if this was too much info! Hope this helps.
