Should I use PHP4 or PHP5 when running PHP as a CGI

Hi

My hosting company runs PHP as CGI but does allow me to alter the PHP.ini files. It also gives me a choice of either PHP4 or PHP5 or I can specify which file use which version. This is the preamble to PHP4

; This is the recommended, PHP 4-style version of the php.ini-dist file. It
; sets some non standard settings, that make PHP more efficient, more secure,
; and encourage cleaner coding.
; The price is that with these settings, PHP may be incompatible with some
; applications, and sometimes, more difficult to develop with. Using this
; file is warmly recommended for production sites. As all of the changes from
; the standard settings are thoroughly documented, you can go over each one,
; and decide whether you want to use it or not.

I am getting some server errors while installing and wondered if it was a permission issue or whether I need to alter some settings in this ini file or if I should be defaulting to PHP5. My hosting site is excellent and I don't want to change them but do want to get ZenCart working. I need a Mentor to help me thru the install if possible.

Thoughts/Suggestions/ Pills welcome

Re: Should I use PHP4 or PHP5 when running PHP as a CGI

If installing a new ZC I would suggest php5

remember that file permissions for all files needs to be 644 ( configuration.php need to be 444 )

and all folders 755
