How to Add SSL Seal to Side Bar Under Side Boxes

This may have been addressed before in other threads, but since it is hard to find and I came across this recently, I would like to share this tip with others.

Here is one way that you can easily add a couple of links and some text and a nice SSL security seal from your gateway provider to the left (or right) side bar, just underneath all of the lovely side boxes.

  1. Locate the bottom-most side box you have displayed in your side bar. Mine is Information side box (information.php).

  2. Make sure there is a custom template folder in your /modules/sideboxes (mine is called /custom). Copy the file in the main /modules/sideboxes/information.php (or whatever the file for that sidebox is) into your custom directory.

  3. Edit this custom file (not the original - use overrides!). Just below the last php tag (?>)....add a comment and the html you would like inserted. I recommend including a break tag or paragraph tag to add some space below the last box. You can usually copy and paste the code from the gateway (like Authorize.net) "Merchant seal" section to this area.

  4. Upload the newly editing file (that is sitting in the custom folder inside /modules/sideboxes.

Again, there may be other templates out there that have addressed this feature and other ways of accomplishing this, but this is a quick and easy way. Recommend including comments around the code you add/edit.
