AH okay,
well preferably i would like to be a real-time user for the credit cards.
I dont' really know much about how to set this stuff up to i can get paid when people make the purchases.
There's plenty of information about payment receipt systems on this forum.
As far as credit cards are concerned, you have two basic options:
-
OFFLINE payment
-
ONLINE payment
-
Offline payment will involve invoking the standard zencart c-card modules, or using an add-on module, such as the c-card module developed by CEON (Connor Kerr). This means that the credit card data entered by a shopper is communicated to the store owner, who then MANUALLY processes the card for payment using an EPOS machine (the card processing machine that brick-and-mortar retailers have in their shops).
-
Online payments RE-DIRECT the shopper's personal details and credit card number to a payment gateway while they are online at your webshop. The payment is deducted from their card and credited to your bank account immediately, and automatically. The payment gateway then returns the shopper to your checkout success page, and the transaction is recorded in your database.
For either 1 or 2 above, you will need some kind of Merchant Agreement with the clearing bank - which usually involves having a merchant card processing account. For OFF-LINE transactions, banks usually do not allow online store owners to take card details over the WWW and process these manually through an EPOS machine. There are security issues, and if you violate this condition, you could be black-listed by clearing banks.
Paypal is an ONLINE processor, and is popular because it is so easy and quick to set up. It is not as complicated as some clearing banks, and in some cases, is cheaper.
You need an ordinary user account with PayPal, which you then "upgrade" and configure to suit your needs.
There's much more to it, of course. If you want a quick and easy way to take c-card payments, then PayPal is probably the easiest route to go.
