I'm new to this so bear with me.
In the new products box (sidebox and main box on homepage) is there a way I can remove certain items. At the moment it includes the gift vouchers, which I do no want in there.

I would like to do the same.
I posted this same question a while ago but it didn't result in a solution.
More recently, I contributed to a similar thread with a workaround.
It would be nice to get a solution though.

If you don't plan to offer gift certificates, you can remove the module in
Admin/Modules/Order Total Modules.

I'd still like them. It's just I don't want them to be displayed in the sideboxes/centre boxes.

That work around seems to have done the trick, as you say probably not the best way to do it but it works.
