Google idiot trying to understand conversions

Hello all,

I'm trying to understand why my conversions (which are supposed to be tied to the "thank you for ordering" page) are not tracking.

I've read everything I can find on these boards about how and where to place the code that Google requires for conversion tracking and thought I understood what I was doing. I set a goal in Google....and Google did record one conversion. But never anything more, no matter how many sales have completed.

I've tried reading up on Google's help pages, but I'm still stumped. Maybe I just don't get something fundamental about how conversion tracking works?!

Has anyone else ever seen this? If you have how, did you solve it? How did you solve it?

I have had this problem and i found that the best way to sort this out was toinstall google analytic which you can find asa download Its called simple google analytic. this is easy to install and will give you a lot more information plus as part of the config in the admin you can setup conversion tracking. My analytic and conversion tracking now work well hope this helps. i can email the download if you can't find it on the forum

Thanks for the suggestion, James O. I have previously installed (1 month ago) the Google Analytics module that appears off of the Admin-->Configuration list and entered my account number. And Google thinks it's tracking conversions... but still can't get real info.

I real through the entire Google Analytics module thread, but still seem to be missing something.

That is quite normal for google to miss about 20% of sales. I do not know why but in the last 3 years I have worked on 3 different sites and all missed about 20%. what we had to do is work the percentages back into the conversions and this worked well,although was very time consuming.

If you want some good information you should do it in Excel. If you send me an email address I will forward on what we used to monitor a plc (I can't say a name but one of the biggest retail outlets in the U.K) It takes about 30 mins per week but was one of the most important online tools for the board
