Welcome Guest on main page?

I almost have everything close to complete on the main page of http://lisleusedbooks.com except, I would like to center the "Welcome Guest! Would you like to log your self in?" and reduce the size of the text.

Where do I make these changes please!:huh:

Re: Welcome Guest on main page?

Add this to your stylesheet and adjust or add additional stuff

.greeting {
        text-align: center;
        font-size: 10pt;
        }

Hi Kobra,
Sorry working off-line at the moment and don't know how to provide access/location. If it helps the Zen default text is the "Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solutions." It is contained in the 'elseif' statements at the bottom of the index.php file.

Thanks for offer to help, I will keep going with my setup and come back to this if I don't work something out.

Thanks again :smile:

Thanks going to do some more reading / learning about stylesheets. Found reference to http://css.maxdesign.com.au and tutorials there.

Re: Welcome Guest on main page?

I have searched and searched and cannot find the proper coding and where to put it to center Welcome Guest and the Sign in line.

I've tried placing the code P { text-align: center } in several positions in 'index.php and all I can get are blank pages. Can someone help me with the correct coding and where to put it? :frusty:

Using 1.3.8a

Bad link???

Stay out of the files for this as it is only in the stylesheet that you need to address this

Re: Welcome Guest on main page?

Thanks for the help and advice.

Can you tell me the stylesheet path and what code to put where in it?

I seen one suggestion to put some code near **.greeting **but I could never find **.greeting **in either of the stylesheet.ccs files in 1.3.8a

Re: Welcome Guest on main page?

I misunderstood that I needed to include the .greeting All is working fine now with the centering. I am still trying to figure out how to increase the length of the "Enter Search Keyword" block. My site http://aabeehives.com only shows "Enter Search Key" Anyone know how I can fix this?

Re: Welcome Guest on main page?

Umm, I don't get it to work for me. When I put that code ... ```
.greeting {
text-align: center;
font-size: 10pt;
}

Am I using the correct path and filename? Exactly where, if it matters, in the file does that code get placed at?

Also in the center column (top) box where that greeting message goes, I have way too much white space before the greeting text -- seems to be a top margin specification for that box? Where & how do I eliminate that unwanted space? Until it's fixed, the site with that problem is [http://www.RGMEusa.com/eStore2](http://www.RGMEusa.com/eStore2), which I'm currently setting up. TIA!

It works here when viewed with FireFox.

Kim:

lol, yes, I figured out how to do it a few minutes ago. I really thank you for taking the time to reply, though! I did it this way:

To center the "Welcome Guest!" line, edit file:
{StoreRoot}/includes/templates/{MyFolder}/templates/tpl_index_default.php

Find line, near the top, starting with:

<div class="centerColumn" id="indexDefault"

Under that line is this code:

<?php if (SHOW_CUSTOMER_GREETING == 1) { ?> <?php echo zen_customer_greeting(); ?> <?php } ?>

make it read:

<center><?php if (SHOW_CUSTOMER_GREETING == 1) { ?> <?php echo zen_customer_greeting(); ?> <?php } ?></center> -----

That, and some other tips I've learned and decided to pass along are in a thread I just created:

Re: Welcome Guest on main page?

MaY I suggest that you do some studying on the "rules" of using CSS? Removing the the tags and replacing them with <center> tags is not the best way to fix your problem.

:mellow: Sure, Kim, but please elaborate! I didn't remove any existing code there, I only wrapped it so the block would center. So I am curious, if you had that example in mind, of why that is bad style CSS code practice.:unsure: I'm eager to learn, I like Zen-Cart a lot. I had a slow start at the holiday sales that's in high gear right now, so I've been eager to get 2 stores up to take advantage of the season. And I do have my 1st store up and it's showcased (but I did a lot wrong with my 1st one, things I now know how to correct). You've contributed a lot to these forums, I see. I've been at this maybe 2 months...
