zc_install keeps coming back

Hi everyone,

After first installing the test example site I get those two standard warnings. However, I can't seem to get rid of that warning that says to delete the zc_install directory. Every time I delete it, when I refresh the page the folder is written back. Any ideas why this is happening and how I can get rid of it?

Here is the procedure to fix the zc_install

Use you ftp program

2. You don't want to delete it

3. Will be need for upgrades in the future

4. use your ftp program

5. go to root directory

6. Find zc_install

7. just rename to

8. _install

Although haredo has the best of intentions, I must strongly advise against the suggestion of not deleting the 'zc_install' directory but instead to rename it.

It is a directory that has some very powerful coding and there is the possibility of misuse, if left within your Hosting account under any naming scheme.

If you are having trouble using your FTP program to delete the 'zc_install' dir. then go into the dir. and delete the subdirectories; one by one if need be. And if a subdirectory will not delete then go inside that and delete any sub-subdirectories. :wink:

Alternatively, you should be able to use your Hosting Control Panel to delete the entire 'zc_install' dir. without problems.

Delete the zc_install folder.

If you need it for an upgrade, you should use the new version of the zc_install from the new version you're upgrading to anyway, so only put it on the server when you need it.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to delete the directory using an SSH client. For some reason when I deleted it using the webdisk, it didn't really delete (or it kept coming back). Why this would happen? I have no idea.

Probably something unique to the configuration of your hosting company's server.

Thanks for the clarification about the zc_install...

If a person deletes the file, there is no chance of a security risk.
