xmodules drop shipping mod, anyone tried it or is there anything like it?
I am interested in the UPS and USPS drop ship modules, but at $125 I would like to get some feedback from anyone that has used it. They don't have any type of demo set up on their site so I can't get an idea of the functionality. :shocking:
Does anyone have a copy to share?:D Since ZenCart is under the GPL, all of xmodules' mods are also under the GPL and anyone is free to give them away.
Or, better yet, has anyone been working on a drop ship mod? The vast majority of our products are drop shipped from 3 vendors and it has been a real hassle and sometimes money loser with the shipping.
The xmodules site says it's a simple module, don't know why they are charging so much for it!. Here is a quote from their site:
The Manufacturers table is modified to accept a shipping zone (zip code in other words). Because Zen Cart products can be 'attached' to Manufacturers, by knowing what products are in the cart, we also know which shipping zone each product is in by reason of the manufacturer (and thus, shipping origin point) associated with the product. Thus, the DropShip modules sort the cart by shipping zone and sequentially pass the number of items, the weight, the origin point, the destination point to UPS or USPS using standard Zen Cart code to dynamically obtain the shipping quote.
How hard would this be to implement? If it is more than a quick script that one of our experienced programmers here on the forum can put together in their spare time because they are so generous:hug:, anyone interested in going in on paying for someone to write it and then release it to the community? I'll put up a post in the commercial section if there is any interest in this.
Thanks!
Matt
