THanks for the mod which is potentially very useful and the update. By the way, couldn't install the sql qery file you included so used the older one. Some style problem.
Zen Follower
Doesn't seem to be working. THe fields are there but when I input an expire date, then save the product, if I go back in the expire date doesn't show any more.
Zen Follower
There's no option for it under admin>catalog>product listing either
Zen Follower
Also., ALL products are showing an expiry date of the same date. How is this possible???
Zen Follower
And I understand because some products wouldn't show that ALL products in the catalogue have to be reedited so that they have some expiry in the future otherwise they won't show.
Zen Follower
OK, I understand a little more. Group all questions together for ease of reference ....
a. The expire date doesn't show up once already keyed in on the products editing page which is a little confusing because although it is there one can't see when the product will expire or if expiration has been set.
b. Expire date shows on home page when New Products/Specials etc set in Index Listing. How does one turn this off? Doesn't look good.
c. On install all products have an expire set in 1969 which needs to be changed - manually!!
d. There's no option to turn off this module under admin>catalog>product listing either
e. Is there a facility to bulk change expires?
f. Can one produce a report showing when all products will expire?
Thanks for a potentially useful mod.

Example 1: MODIFY ALL PRODUCTS EXPIRY DATE
UPDATE products SET products_date_expire = '2010-12-31';
This will set the expiry date for ALL products to the 31 december 2010 and all products will be visible. You can edit the date in the sql statement to your choice.Example 2 : MODIFY THE EXPIRY DATE OF A SPECIFIC PRODUCT
If you want to change the expiry date for a specific product ID, enter: UPDATE products SET products_date_expire = '2099-12-31' WHERE products_ID = XXX;
(XXX is the id number of the product that you want to modify)

[*]You can turn ON/OFF the expiry date feature at Admin --> Configuration --> Product Listing --> Use product expire date featured --> On / Off
Hi, I can't seem to be able to locate this option. It is not where you say it is.

I can still use the Calendar function when adding products in Admin right? It will do the same thing right?
Thanks!

I'm sorry just one more thing. I noticed that products which I have not set an expiry date for will not appear on product listing. I have some products which I need to expire and others I don't need to.
Is it possible to do this? Otherwise, is it possible to set certain products to display expiry date and others not? I am expiring those products not in stock but open for a limited time period for customers to order. Those which I have in-stock will not expire.
Thanks
New Zenner
if you don't see the ON/OFF option, try to insert the following statement in the SQL patch windows:
INSERT INTO configuration VALUES ("", "Use product expire date featured", "PRODUCT_EXP_DATE", "true", "Automatically disable product after expire date", 8, 100, NULL, "2008-09-22 07:55:24", NULL, "zen_cfg_select_option(array(""true"", ""false""), ");
it should add the option in the menu.
New Zenner
Thanks! It works now!! :D
Can you help me with the below too??

Actually, I'm sorry, it's not working. I have turned the option off in Admin but it is still showing in the main page. Also, the products without any expiry date are still not showing. :(

Products wich do not have an expiry date set will NOT show by default. That's why you HAVE to set an expiry date for each new product you enter.
For existing products, just use the SQL update statement and choose a date that will 'never expire' (like 12-12-2099).
For products whith a limited time period for customers to order, just set the 'Product available date' and the 'Product expiry date': they will switch on and off automatically.

Yes, have included the SQL update statement which is also included in your mod package. However it doesn't work - my existing products are not showing.
These were the SQL statement which I have copied from your installation package:
ALTER TABLE products ADD products_date_expire DATETIME AFTER products_date_available ;
UPDATE products SET products_date_expire = '2099-12-31';
INSERT INTO configuration VALUES ("", "Use product expire date featured", "PRODUCT_EXP_DATE", "true", "Automatically disable product after expire date", 8, 100, NULL, "2008-09-22 07:55:24", NULL, "zen_cfg_select_option(array(""true"", ""false""), ")

There seem to be significant problems with this module and I would not recommend its use...

Hi, thanks a lot for this. I really needed the End date!
But i have a problem.
I can see End date if i make a new product, but if i want to create the product, i get an error:
1054 Unknown column 'products_bundle' in 'field list'
in:
[insert into products (products_quantity, products_bundle, products_type, products_model, products_price, products_date_available, products_date_expire, products_weight, products_status, products_virtual, products_tax_class_id, manufacturers_id, products_quantity_order_min, products_quantity_order_units, products_priced_by_attribute, product_is_free, product_is_call, products_quantity_mixed, product_is_always_free_shipping, products_qty_box_status, products_quantity_order_max, products_sort_order, products_discount_type, products_discount_type_from, products_price_sorter, products_barcode, products_image, products_date_added, master_categories_id) values ('12', '', '1', '', '0', '2010-06-08', '', '0', '1', '0', '0', '0', '1', '1', '0', '0', '0', '1', '0', '1', '0', '0', '0', '0', '0', '', '', now(), '0')]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
What does this mean? I think i did everything, but i think there is someting with my sql queries. In the installation guide it says: Run these 2 sql queries.
I copied and paste it so it can't be wrong right?
Please help me, running out of options!!
New Zenner
did someone found a solution?
New Zenner
Yeah, I see a lot of back and forth and a lot of modification by users. Is the product expiration module ready to go? Are the zip files uploaded current?
Thanks!
