Removing category image links and text links from the HOME page

Newbie here...thanks!

I have configured define_main_page.php to accept an image map for category choice navigation. Client did not like the default display of category images and the oversize all caps text links.

How do I get rid of the default display of the category images and text links?

I tried turning off: ** Categories - Also Show on Main Page** but it wiped out the bottom part of the page!

Many more questions, but different topic threads.

Thanks,
Wes

Re: Removing category image links and text links from the HOME page

Adding some info:

Currently the index page in the post above has a right hand category column, and it also displays picture icons and all caps text in the main content column.

I want to eliminate the pics and text links in the content column but retain the categories links in the right hand column.

What do I turn off??

Thx,
Wes

Re: Removing category image links and text links from the HOME page

I am still in urgent need of a solution or a "Sorry, Charlie, can't be done," on the problem described above. Is there a document where I can comment out the area that displays the picture category icons and the associated text links in the center content column?

Or is the only control the one in the Admin panel that seems to turn off both the center column AND the category sidebar? Need to retain the category sidebar.

Here is a peek at the site, definitely in the unfinished state:

The area I want to eliminate is at the bottom of the page, underneath the HTML site map.

Thx,
Wes
