Help With Inserting Small Credit Card Logo in Footer Pretty Please

I was approved for my merchant account today (woo of hoo) and wanted to incorporate a logo graphic in the footer below the "powered by zen cart" line. The graphic contains all four credit cards accepted through authorize.net. It is my located in the /store/images folder (back up in my CUSTOM folder too) and is 215x35px.

I tried inserting it into the footer.php page and tpl_footer.php after looking at a couple of older topics and it didn't work. :dontgetit The site was most unhappy in that 1) the logo didn't display and; 2) on one occasion I couldn't access any pages until I brought back the original page. So I royally flubbed it up somewhat...what else is new!

Any ideas how I go about doing this?

Keep your footer thin and the focus on your site.

Personally,I'd prefer the footer placement rather than another sidebox.

That should work OK. Maybe it's where you're inserting the code or what editor you're using?

Thanks webskpper and stevesh. I didn't want to add another sidebox although I could and will play with it. Since the image is only 35px tall, it's relatively small since it runs horizontal. As much as I like the sideboxes, my eye catches a lot of clutter with them, but that's just one chick's opinion. LOL
