Customers addresses in Google maps

If there are any extremely good php wizards out there you will laugh at my inability to do this.

I am trying to geo-code the addresses of my customers in google maps. Not their exact addresses, but the Town/City they enter in their sign-up form, just to see where all my custom is coming from. This will only be available to the admins and will not be a page for the public.

I can see markers on the map but i have to enter the addresses again manually in a new table 'markers' i cannot, at the moment take the 'City' field from the addresses table and geo-code it. I have found information here and here about it, but with my knowledge i have gone as far as i can go.

Does anyone out there know how to continue with this?
