I don't know what to do from here EP

Hi,

I have a question regarding easy populate. I have put it in my zen directory and I shows up in admin but now I get this screen and I get all confused. I need to download all of my (75+) categories than I need to copy paste all articles in the sheet and upload the whole thing again. Now I've read the whole manual but I get stuck already in the first screen. Can someone please tell me what I'm supposed to do with this screen?

Thank you for helping out!

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

Are you trying to DOWNLOAD or UPLOAD your categories/products?

I'm guessing you want to upload to your catalog. In that case the first line on this screen is to specify where the file that has the properly formated data for your categories/products is.

Your original download file of EP has examples of the various formats you can upload for reference on field names and field order. Lots of people us a spreadsheet program to format the data but you can also use a database program like Filemaker or anything that can export to a delineated file.

If I guessed wrong, sorry.

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

Thank you for helping but I first need to download my categories (if it is possible, i don't know if it is). They are all empty categories. Than I need to edit it in excel and then I need to upload it again. But it's they downloading where I get stuck. I don't see a button that says download. And I don't know what easy_label_product_start means. Or split file?

So in essence my question is how do I download my empty categories.

From your screenshot, it looks like you've got a **corrupt file **in the EP mod. Try to FTP the EP files again - do them one by one. And make sure you READ the install help files.

I'll take a look at my notes and will come back later if I see something obvious...

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

AH... Looks like you may have installed the WRONG VERSION of EP !

The version you are using is for ZC 1.2.x

If you are using ZC 1.3...

Remove this version of EP and install the version for 1.3.x

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

I got the right version installed now (thank you again for helping with that!!!) Can someone now tell me how to export my categories, I have tried several times but I end up with the basic spreassheet instead of the spreadsheet showing all my categories in it. If it's not possible I understand to but I hope it is because I have a lot of categories, so it would be kind of handy to put all the products into the right place. Below this post I'll put a screenshot so you can see if I installed it right. Thank you all again for your help, you are my hero's!

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

First, add TEST products to each of your categories in your zenshop (just one product in each category is fine). Do this in the ADMIN PANEL of your zenshop, using the ADD PRODUCT input screen.

Make sure you give each test product a MODEL NUMBER (or EP will not work).

Then, when you have at least ONE product in each category, go to EP and click:-

**Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit (Attributes Not Included) **

SAVE the file to your hard drive, then open in a spreadsheet editor (MS Excel).

You will now have a spreadsheet of the test products, with your category tree as well.

You can now add your real products, making sure to list them according to your category tree.

Where you have your TEST PRODUCTS in the spreadsheet, you now give them a value of " 9 " in the v_status column. (This will DELETE the test products when you then INSERT the tab-delimited spreadsheet back into your database).

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

At this point, you would do well to look at the **WIKI** on Easy Populate again, and follow the steps mentioned there. (Print it out so you can refer to it as you go...)

Re: I don't know what to do from here EP

Thank you so much. Now I understand how it works. I've saved the entire easy populate wiki to my harddisk for reference.

Thank you again for your excellent help!
