Copy Product without attributes still copies the attributes

I am linking the product to another category and do not want the attributes showing on the new category. It is still copying the attributes .

Anyone know why?

How can I stop Attributes being copied across when I copy a product with attributes to another category?

A Linked Product is a Product that is identical in all respects to the original Product ...

A Copied Product creates a physical, new product that you can setup with or without the existing attributes because it is physically a different Product ...

If I walk down the aisles of a store and find a Widget ... if I find it in aisle 3 or in aisle 7 it is still going to be:
red, blue or yellow
small, medium or large

regardless of which aisle I happen to get it from ...

Now, if there were different models of the Product where everything is the same about the Product except for the attributes of it ... then a Copy as a new vs linked product would give me a brand new Product and I can do this without taking everything of the original Product with me ...

Sure makes sense but when I go to copy a product it gives me choices.

Duplicate product [ ]

So I ended up duplicating the product. BTW when you say "Copy as a new vs linked product " do you mean "Duplicate product" ?
