Main page text not showing on site.

I'm trying to add text to my main page. I've used the define page editors in admin to add text and it shows in /public_html/includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_main_page.php
but it shows up like this:

<p class="MsoNormal" style="BACKGROUND: white; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Welcome to MySimchaPlanners.co.uk</span></p><p /><p class="MsoNormal" style="BACKGROUND: white; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">A unique <country-region w:st="on" /><place w:st="on" />UK</place /></country-region /> based online service dedicated to ensuring your special day is everything you dreamed it will be</span></p><p /><p class="MsoNormal" style="BAtext is CKGROUND: white; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">We have a extensive network of specialists partners who will take the stress out of arranging your family event.</span></p><p /><p />

My text is in there but broken up and it doesn't show on my home page. I've checked define page status in Admin and that is set to (1) as in ON and I've set the attributes ofthe define_main_page.php to 777 as instructed by other threads.. Still I have no text on my home page.....

Please can someone suggest what to do before I throw my laptop out of the window. :P

Ok, Y
I am going to guess you have not created the override folders yet

If you are still using the classic:

  1. includes/ languages/ english/ html_includes/ classic/ define_main-page.phpJust a little reading for the day...

"The Override Folders"

We need to step back, just a little..

  1. Using the override system means you don't have to worry about over-writing your custom files when an upgrade comes along, because they are all in custom directories you will create below.
  2. Click on the link below, notice the tutorial/faqs on the top right hand side
  3. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/
  4. Notice the blue header bar, click Index
  5. Scroll down to override system, click
  6. click on the override system really simplified, https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=143
  7. you will need to use a ftp program and create these folders
  8. now read this article
  9. https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=142
  10. after you finish that little step, read the article below
  11. https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=230
  12. So, now when you want to edit a .php file, first upload the file to your custom folder and then edit the puppy..

Re: Main page text not showing on site.

I managed to sort it. I realised that I needed featured proucts to have something on the front page.. I seem to be having problems getting banners to display.. my url is: https://www.mysimchaplanners.co.uk

I am trying to make a directory site for businesses to advertise on. I would like the home page to show featured banners provided by myself and customers and also for the banners to be listed by catagory (which is on the left of the site).

I also want to remove some of the images from our products like the "FREE!" and "details" and "Our Price" as they are not necessary for what I am doing.

Very new to this zen thing and it's a little confusing to me.

Re: Main page text not showing on site.

I am having a similar problem but my problem is that there is a huge space at the top of the website which I can't get to go away. All of the editing was done via the Zen Cart Admin HTML Editor. The website is www.sunbling.com. Any suggestions?
