PHP E-Mail Transport error

when I set the E-Mail Transport method to PHP I get this error when I complete an order ...

2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
in:
[select customers_email_format from newsite_customers where customers_email_address= '[email protected]']

2006 MySQL server has gone away
in:
[select count(*) as total from newsite_sessions where sesskey = 'XXXXXXX']

any ideas??

Re: PHP E-Mail Transport error

What happens if you set it to something other than "PHP" ?
Is this a "new" problem?
Is this on a new install or part of an upgrade?
What other problems are you encountering on the site?

Re: PHP E-Mail Transport error

David, Thanks for letting me log into your system.

Looks like this is a NEW install of 1.3.7.1 and it looks as if you have overwritten the classic template with your mods. Did you copy files from an older version over the top of the fresh install?

Your mail config is setup exactly like my 3 Zen-Cart Installation on GoDaddy and 1 Zen-Cart installation on a WinXP server in my computer room and all work just fine.

The only difference is I have the following set up as "Yes" and "HTML"
Emails must send from known domain? No
Email Admin Format? TEXT

The only other real difference is that I am running on PHP version 4.3.11 and You are using 5.2.5

Re: PHP E-Mail Transport error

It's unlikely to be a problem with mail.

The mail section of the code is reporting that it encountered a closed database when it was attempting to being preparing an email message.

This means that something happening before attempting to send the email is causing a long-enough delay to close the database.

So, something you're doing in the checkout process is causing the problem.

Re: PHP E-Mail Transport error

still trying to figure this out...

here is a link to the mistery..
this is the error message
2013 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
in:
[select customers_email_format from newsite_customers where customers_email_address= '[email protected]']

2006 MySQL server has gone away
in:
[select count(*) as total from newsite_sessions where sesskey = '6507anv66lli8llaibuc1p3na6']

now, this part "where customers_email_address= '[email protected]'" is what seems the issue... the email of the logged in customer of the order being proccessed was not '[email protected]' ....... (thats the email of the admin of the site... so seems somthing iswrong here...

Any thoughts on this?

Re: PHP E-Mail Transport error

If you tell it to not send extra admin copies of order confirmations, do the problems disappear?
Admin->Configuration->Email Options
In fact, what are all your other settings on that screen (without passwords)

Re: PHP E-Mail Transport error

indicana:

Email Archiving Active? trueAre the emails showing up in the archive log?
indicana:

Email Address (sent FROM) https://www.indicana.comHuh? Why are you using a URL for an email address?

indicana:

Send Copy of Tell a Friend Emails To Name 1 email@address1, Name 2 email@address2
Send Copy of Customer GV Send Emails To Name 1 email@address1, Name 2 email@address2
Send Copy of Customer Admin GV Mail Emails To Name 1 email@address1, Name 2 email@address2
Send Copy of Customer Admin Discount Coupon Mail Emails To Name 1 email@address1, Name 2 email@address2
Send Copy of Admin Orders Status Emails To Name 1 email@address1, Name 2 email@address2
Send Notice of Pending Reviews Emails To Name 1 email@address1, Name 2 email@address2
Those don't look like valid email addresses ... thus you'll never receive those emails, which are normally sent to you as admin copies of the messages sent to customers.
