Curl and SSL help - error during istallation

Hi

I have been trying to install Zen Cart but am met with problems during installation and the Prerequisites stage.

Although I have experience within web design, PHP / development is a new learning curve for me so please bear with me as I try to explain the issues I have been met with.

The problem appears to be with Curl and SSL.

I have pasted part of the error message below and the full version can be viewed here http://www.adjective.org.uk/zc_install/index.php?main_page=inspect

I am using Domain City for hosting and have contacted them regarding the above issues. They have advised me that their servers meet all the requirments, but have had some problems with the Curl configuration and need some more information.

As for the information needed, I have pasted part of their email below

It looks to me as if you will require curl (but we will need to know
where it is connecting to - find this out, so we can allow that egress),
and if you require HTTPS then that is a service you currently do not
have, and will require both that and a certificate.

I would be very grateful if someone could advise as to where the problem lies and what can be done to fix this.

Kind Regards
Diane Swift

Re: Curl and SSL help - error during istallation

IMO, if your host is that restrictive at the outset, you need to keep your eyes wide open about possible additional hosting problems down the road.

Zen Cart is doing a CURL test during install by checking whether your server can connect to zen-cart.com via CURL. If you plan to use PayPal it will also use CURL to connect to various servers belonging to PayPal. If you intend to update currencies online, it will attempt to connect to various currency-exchange services. Some shipping modules also use CURL to obtain shipping quotes. Authorize.net and Linkpoint payments also use CURL for processing.
Your host may not be up to the task ...
