Products containing multiple items

Hi

I regularly come across the requirement to 'build your own ...widget' where a widget is kit containing several stock items at a bundle price. To be precise I would like the ability to provide customisable kits containing a fixed range of goods that are also available individually.
eg, hifi system containing:
a or b cd player
a,b or c amplifier
a, b, c, d or e speakers

then adjust the price of the kit according to attributes, so cd player b is £20 more than cd player a and the final price is altered accordingly.

I think that this would be similar in structure to the controversial 'pc configurator' module but with cost attributes.

My php skills are not up to this job, especially with regard to the amount of variables and the core structure of Zencart (please do not misinterpret this as a damning of ZC, only my humble php).

I cannot find such a module nor any reference using any of the search criteria that I could think of.

Does anybody know if such a mod exists?
