Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

Since the encoding of the Bulgarian letters is outside the ASCII set, there are 4 cells in the database used for each letter. Increasing to 256 will allow using more letter in Cyrillic, but will bring some troubles. Mainly this was the reason for me to make the translation. Everyone is free to do whatever he wants of course.

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

Hi guys we are getting a big team here. I have struggled a lot with Bulgarian language. Lazy_666 thanks for your great translations. I am glad u find them just after translating the Admin panel :D.

Here are the steps which I have to do to have no trouble with 4 characters:

The one most important thing is to change your query_factory.php
Then you have to make sure you change your english language encoding to en_US.utf-8, otherwise you will get ?????? or something like #ask123;#fgk123; insteat of bulgarian alphabet.

And dont forget to change your COLLATION.
Here are some usefull tips if you are using ssh:

show variables like "character_set_database";
show variables like "collation_database";

alter database nameofdb COLLATE utf8_general_ci;
alter database nameofdb CHARACTER SET utf8;

I hope my post is helpfull take care guys and enjoy this great tool called Zen-cart :)

Cheers

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

In v1.3.9 you don't need to touch query_factory.php.

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

I have added a Bulgarian letter Ж into all English files, so I can encode them in UTF8, I will upload files together with Bulgarian language pack.
This works for my new shop. It should work for you too.

Also, I will add Bulgarian provinces.

DrByte:

In v1.3.9 you don't need to touch query_factory.php.

Regrettably, there is still some room for improvement. Please try with this char "ш". It seems it is not handled quite good.

I will try to upload the whole zen-cart install in my contribution, regrettably the file is quite big, so I think I will not be able to.

Please guys, be alittle bit more patient. :D

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

Good news everybody.

The final COMPLETE utf8 translation is here and awaiting review.
I spend few hours of testing and I was unable to find any problems. However, if you find problems, please post so I can review them.
And here some bonus from me. :D
Go to:
Инструменти -> Инсталиране на SQL Пачове
Tools -> Install SQL patches

WARNING: If you DO have zones for Bulgarian this might lead to unexpected results, please use it for new shop only.

Then copy following lines and execute.

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

Have you tried to enter new products? Old ones are ruined, but the new ones should not.

When you converted the English files to UTF8, have you re-opened them for check? The stupid editors leave the file in ANSI, which is pure abomination, but anyway, I have added one letter in the beginning of the file (Ж) and this forced the file to be in UTF8.

Since the contribution was not approved by ZC team, I am not posting link to it. If someone want to risk and test it, give me a PM and I will send it.

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

Check if your Greek files are ANSI as UTF-8
Try switching to Greek in admin panel. Do the admin part work correctly?
Keep in mind that you need to convert ALL php files to UTF-8 otherwise you might get some nasty surprises.

Hy Lazy_666,

Do you still work on this language pack? Is there an updated version?

Re: Bulgarian language pack UTF-8 compliant

Hi folks,

I'm currently working on a Bulgarian Language Pack for ZenCart 1.5.5d
Of course it is not official and comes with no warranty. Most of the Catalog section is ready.
There is still the Admin section to be translated.

Here is the link to it: https://github.com/znlambov/ZenCart-Bulgarian_Language_Pack

Any help, like testing and checking the translation for errors is more than welcome!

Best regards,
Zi.
