Packs and shipping problems

Hi. I am offering on my website packs of products (for example: "30 random items") and I am using shippment calculation by items. Now the problem is that these packs count as 1 only item. I want to know if is possible that these packs count as the number of items they announce. I can´t use shippment by weight to do that (the items I am selling are weight free). I need to do this with by Item calculation.

If you do not use the products_weight for any of your products, then you could use it for these special product packs where products_weight is 1 ... then use the weight to determin how many are in the cart ...

For every 30 you get, you can then subtract 29 from the item count in the Item Rate item shipping module ...
