Products on main page? [ t-shirt website ]

Hi,

I'm not sure how to setup my products in the admin so the site acts like a basic t-shirt store?
I need to display each shirt on the main page...then when you click one, it simply takes you to the product page.

ie) I literally need to jam medium size product images next to each other in a grid like this: **http://www.bustedtees.com**

Can someone help me understand the listing strategy to accomplish this (see nav below)?
As well, how would I go about creating more columns and jamming the images close together (I'm already using a single column layout)?

I'm relatively familiar with editing ZenCart "code"...my site is very customized.
I'm just not familiar with actually populating ZC yet...go figure. :blink:

Anyway, I'm using a customized AppleZen template...
the CSS drodpwn nav would need to look like this (for SEO purposes):

• Mens Shirts

• Shirt Name #1
  • Shirt Name #2
  • Shirt Name #3
  • etc.
    
• Womens Shirts

  • Shirt Name #1
  • Shirt Name #2
  • Shirt Name #3
  • etc.

I think what you need is the column-grid module from the downloads section and if all shirts are in one category then the admin setting to open main page with a category

The problem with "open main page with category"...
is that it only shows the category header graphic, it doesn't show the "products".

As well, the "Column Grid" module only seems to work on "Featured Products".

Is there a way to keep Featured Products static?
I mean, right now they rotate every time I reload the page.

Also, is it possible to set them to stay permanent?
...so they don't ever change.

i'm having the exact same problem.

Found a way to do it using Featured Products: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51990

1) Download the "column-grid" module - follow instructions, set it to "columns"

2) Under "Layout Settings" - set "Main Page - Opens With Category"
(choose the category you want displayed)

3) Turn of ALL extra listings - Featured Products, New Products, etc.
(if you want ONLY your chosen category displayed)

3) Under "Config > Maximum Values" - set "Product Listing - Number Per Page" to something like 10000
(this allows all your products to shuffle into a "grid" format and show everything on one page, rather than having ZenCart push them onto a second page).

That's it...
and to think, I was worried it would be complicated to link directly to a product from the front-page of my "eCommerce" site! :wacko:

Does anyone know if it's possible to set "Opens with Category" to multiple categories? i.e. show 3 categories on the front page?
