Limiting access while my shop is under construction?

How do I prevent access to my cart by the public? I have uploaded my cart to my server. I am using a Linux shared server. I want to be able to work on my cart, and view it while I am working on it, but I want to prevent everyone else from viewing it. Is that possible?

admin->configuration->website maintenance

set it down for maintenance (true) and put your IP in the space provided further down the list so that you can see the site.
