credit card type

how come there is no option to select the type of credit card with wpp?

I think people will be confused when they are checking out and they don't say what card they are using.

I may just put a fake drop down selection for them, anyone got any other options?

Re: credit card type

You would be surprised,

you dont need a dropdown,

Re: credit card type

I agree with Merlin...

No real need to do what you suggest.

Re: credit card type

Correct me if I'm wrong, but WPP takes ALL major CC types. Why add an extra step for the customer when it's not needed. In the rare event that a card is declined because WPP does not accept it (which is unlikely), then get in touch with that customer personally.

Re: credit card type

As I understand it, the first digit of the card tells the processor what type of card it is (4=Visa, 5=MC, etc.), so it isn't necessary to specify. Seems like a lot of sites still ask, though.

Re: credit card type

The trend today is to limit the steps a shopper has to take to check-out. Steve's right, the credit card is identified by the first digit, with subsequent digits identifying the region, issuing bank and a whole lot more...

So, as Merlin said earlier, why add a step that is now basically "obsolete" ?

Re: credit card type

having sad that... what MAY be nice is a little sidebox with icons of cards that are accepted by PayPal. So this is just ILLUSTRATIVE, not an OPERATIONAL step.

Re: credit card type

Re: credit card type

I don't understand this.

I have a dropdown on the payment page. The only problem is there is only four options switch, solo, Visa and Mastercard. Diners and Amex is missing.

I have UK PayPal payments pro installed.

Re: credit card type

Have you perhaps also installed the Credit Card module? You don't need this unless you are taking card payments off-line.

Re: credit card type

From looking at paypalwpp.php I get the dropdown because I am using the UK version of Paypal payments pro.

Im guessing I do not have the discover or American Express as an option as it was originally not supported by the UK version.

Re: credit card type

ya i looked at the paypalwpp.php code a bit and noticed the define credit card type.. i guess UK version does have a drop down. I still do find it very odd there is not a drop box on the us version
