6 Pack products to stock

Hi.
I need to offer various unit qunatities of the same product. I don´t sell a single unit, I sell for example a 6 pack, or a 12 or 24 pack.

There are also other mixed packs where I offer 12 or 24 units of different products.

The problem is this: for the costumer its a matter of only adding a single product to the cart (say a six pack= only one item)

But for stock management reasons this single item should deduct six units, as my products are not pre-packaged, and the stock is kept in a single unit basis.

How can i do this?
Thanks for your help.

Re: 6 Pack products to stock

Sounds like you'll have to remember that each unit =6, 2 units = 12.

I sell some items that come in bags of 10 or 20. People only need one piece so I offer the item as eaches.

Inventory wise I know that each piece in their separate little zip lock is 1/10th of a unit or every 10 that I count = 1 unit.

also look into the attributes feature of zen cart, because you can have multi-tiered pricing that way. you will still have to keep track of your stock, but the customer sees one type of product and chooses which allotment they would like. less product IDs to go around, and you will be doing pick and pack (I am guessing here) so you will automatically have that detail available to you.

Re: 6 Pack products to stock

Hi.
Thanks for your replies.
I don't like to create one producto for every pack because i will have many products on my cart, i'd like to avoid this.
I tested with attributes but it doesn't do what i like.
If i have 50 products in stock and i sell a 12 pack, how can i know that i have 38 products on stock then?
And what about the mixed products pack?

Re: 6 Pack products to stock

Would setting up the Minimum/Units on a product work for you?

You can set the Unit value to 6 and that would make a 6 pack ...

If you offer discounts on quantity you can then add the Discount Quantity via the Products Price Manager ...

Re: 6 Pack products to stock

That way works for the 6 pack, but about the others (12 pack and 24 pack)?
And about the mixed packs?
Thanks for your help.

Re: 6 Pack products to stock

Hi.
Testing Units and Min and Max could do the trick ...
yes you're right :)
I was thinking if I change the quantity textbox for a quantity dropdown could be more easy for the customer.
There is a mod for this? Or which files must be edited to do this?
Thanks for your help.

pd. I should quit the 18 pack but it will be a problem after make the dropdown :)

Re: 6 Pack products to stock

Hi.
I didn't use the min and max and i did a hack to my cart to add 6 products (on the 6 pack option) but showing only 1 on the shopping cart.
The problem is with the session and global order total and subtotal, because this values are calculating with the quantity and value of attribute, and i need to set the quantity to 1 before the calculation.
I try with the calculate function but it doesn't update the global and session variables, only the cart on screen.
How can i do this?
Thanks for help.
