before upgrading I have a problem

I am running zencart 1.3.0.1 and I want to upgrade to 1.3.8 but I designed my shop using the classic template now when I upgrade with this mees with the layout that i have made? also whats the best way to upgrade with out pulling my shop down?

You have to create a test site in your computer and perform all the upgrade there.
Instructions for this are in the ZC manual.
You don't touch your online site until you are satisfied with the upgrade... and even then, just rename the folder and keep the database so you can always revert.
