[Done v1.3.9a] Scheduled Banner Ad Showing Up Too Early

I setup a couple of banner ads for June. I scheduled one to run 6/1/08-6/15/08 and the other 6/15/08-6/30/08. Both of these banner ads are showing up now, 5/22/08. I was under the assumption that these banner ads would not start displaying until their scheduled dates.

I do have the banners ads turned on (green) so maybe this is why they are showing up? Should I have them turned off (red) and then they will automatically turn themselves on (green)?

Thanks,
Melissa

Re: [Done v1.3.9a] Scheduled Banner Ad Showing Up Too Early

Go to the banner that is showing and edit it ...

Look at the dates, are they in the format of:
MM/DD/YYYY

Or are they in the format of:
DD/MM/YYYY

If they are not in the format of:
MM/DD/YYYY

First ... try to use the calendar to set the dates ... are they in the format MM/DD/YYYY ... if not ...

Manually enter them correctly ... is this now working as in not showing now?

There appears to be a bug in the dates and it goes beyond what is displayed ... :cry:

Moving this to Bug Reports ...

Re: [Done v1.3.9a] Scheduled Banner Ad Showing Up Too Early

I don't think this is a bug. I finally scrolled down to the bottom of the banner manager page and read the notes section again. It says the following;

"All scheduled banners are marked as inactive until their date has arrived, to which they will then be marked active."

To answer your date format question, I do have the date format set as DD/MM/YYYY and I used the calendar to enter the information.

I will know for certain if my scheduled future banner dates are working properly on June 1st.

Could you browse the banners table next time you are in phpMyAdmin and see if the right dates are set? :smile:

Re: [Done v1.3.9a] Scheduled Banner Ad Showing Up Too Early

I checked the banners table in MyPhpAdmin and it shows the date scheduled as YYYY/MM/DD (or 2008-06-01) and the date expired as YYYY/MM/DD (or 2008-06-15).

I think instead of waiting until June 1st to make sure the banner activates on it's schedule date that I'm going to change it to tomorrow's date for testing purposes. I'll reply to this post and let you know if it works properly.

Re: [Done v1.3.9a] Scheduled Banner Ad Showing Up Too Early

I changed the scheduled date so that it would activate on May 26th and it never activated. Any suggestions other than remembering to manually activate banners I have scheduled for future dates?

The solution to this is to change the code in:
/includes/functions/banners.php

and change the SELECT in the zen_activate_banners function to read:

    $banners_query = "select banners_id, date_scheduled
                      from " . TABLE_BANNERS . "
                      where date_scheduled != [B]'[/B]NULL[B]'[/B]";

Re: [Done v1.3.9a] Scheduled Banner Ad Showing Up Too Early

NOTE: scheduled banners should be set to status 0 where you will see the RED icon on them ...

The bugfix will set the status to 1, when it is time and the icon will change to green ...
