Linking Products Without Duplicating

Hi,
Is it possible to link a product without duplicating it? The reason I'm asking is that I'm trying to improve my internal link structure for the purpose of a better Google placement, at present I only have one Google link back, that of my featured products page.

I've cross sold most of my products to create more internal links is there a better way of linking to ensure that Googlebots pick them up.

Copy Product as Linked?

When you have 1 Product in a Category, you can hit the C for Copy and you are given the choice of Copy as Linked or as a New Product ...

Linked Product means you have only 1 physical products_id for the product whereas the Copy as New Product will give you 2 physical products_id values and all related data is separate ...

That really works nice for setting a product up in multiple categories.

When I link products I see the icon that indicates a link. How do I go about removing a linked product from a category? If I delete the product from the category, does it delete the product entirely, or just delete the link?
