Adding featured/specials/

Hi,

When I go to add featured products or specials the page doesn't give me any options to add products.

When I go to catalog->featured products or Specials -> Add product I get this page

Is there some option I don't have ticked? It did work before but I can't seem to see where Its going wrong now

but that didn't seem to do anything, everything else seems to be working fine in the back end:dontgetit

Did you manually enter your products or import them?

How many Products do you have?

How many are already on Special? Featured? Once on Special or Featured they do not appear in the dropdown ...

What changes have you made to your site since this last worked properly?

Manually entered the products

About 280 products in the catalog

There's 5 on featured and 1 on special I was deleting products from the specials before I discovered that I couldn't create new specials.

No major changes with files just products, I've found another backend item not working is when I go to Reports-> Products Viewed the page loads and says Displaying 1 to 20 (of 281 products) but no products are being displayed

Are all of your Products in Categories?

I did a fresh install on my server of ZEN CART and installed the sample data, the attributes worked fine, I them imported my database from my site and it imported correctly but then I went to the attributed controller and it back the same as before, on option like my screen image above.

I've tried everything I can think of, has anyone else any suggestions??

I've also tried installing 1.8 from 1.7 and did a patch on the data base but still no luck

**For any one else that runs into this problem, and to save them hours of figuring out.To quote my first post

That's how simple the problem was.

In Catalog->Product Types->Product - General->

In the box which said

This Product can be added to cart:

The box was unticked, so I just ticked it problem solved:clap:

On the positive side after all my practice I'm able to install a ZEN CART now in under 20 seconds now

Sorry that you had this issue...

But a default install has this set correctly - - this setting is stored in the DB and most likely applying your backed up DB with all your products had this reset by someone at some time.

That is the other trick to the Featured and Specials listing ... the Products have to be able to be added to the Shopping Cart or they do not display ... :smile:

Thanks for posting back the mystery solution that you had the Products setup as to not allow them to be added to the shopping cart ...
