Online credit cards processing for Australia.

Hi everyone. I am at present trying to set up my Zen Cart to accept CC payments online and I am finding all rather confusing. From what I can gather so far I need to set up a merchant account and a payment gateway. Is this correct or are they one and the same thing. I bank with St George and they have merchant account facilities but can I plug this into Zen Cart. The two payment gateways packaged with Zen Cart (Authorize.net & Linkpoint) seem to only deal with American companies. So I guess I need to hear from people in Australia who have already set up their own online Credit Card facilities & hopefully someone can get me started on the right track. Regards Simon:huh:

Re: Online credit cards processing for Australia.

We've been using the NAB Payment Gateway direct to the National Australia Bank. But the interface has had intermittent problems, and then stopped working a day ago when the NAB changed their back-end setup.

My understanding is that NAB won't let people sign up for doing this direct with them anymore. Like many other banks, I believe they now force people to go through a 3-rd party gateway provider with the extra costs involved.

Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

Re: Online credit cards processing for Australia.

Thanks mate. Yeah I have come to the conclusion that that is the way I must go. I bank with St George and they are compatible with eWay. My only concern was the plugin for the eWay gateway was written for version 1.3.7 of Zen Cart and I am running 1.3.8. But I have been informed by somebody who is successfully using eWay on their Australian site that the 1.3.7 version works perfectly on the 1.3.8 Zen Cart. I am just now waiting for my merchant account to be approved. I will let everone know how it goes as there does not seem to be a lot of info here when it comes to Australian based businesses.

Have you had any luck with the eWay/St George bank combination yet?
Cheers,
Alex
