   Not sure what you want?

I mean either when the customer goes to the shopping cart they are able to put in the coupon code with the apply button....

OR

At the checkout last page before the confirming the order (where zen-cart default checkout has the area to put the coupon, but if it isn't enter correctly the customer doesn't know) I would like an "Apply Coupon Button" at the screen

One should receive an error message if the code is not valid

I can not explain the image other than to say you have a header background image already In your image editor place the block you want the info to be in into that image and save it. Your header background will now have that block as part of it

Place it anywhere in your header:
