Change Category ID's? Is this possible?

Hi,

I'm pretty new at this, but is it possible to change the category ID numbers in the admin panel or is it though PHP?

The problem is that I had to remove my main category and make a new one again. what's happened is that although I changed the sort order so that its on the top, when the site is crawled, that particular category comes up last in the meta string.

Does this make sense? I think I know enough just to be dangerous! This category is the one main group that I sell from, but its not even indexed on google because of this problem.

I could sure go for the same info...Im redoing my whole site and want to start at 1 again...can it be done?

You need to think about all the affected tables:
categories
categories_description
products_to_categories

Then, there is the master_categories_id in the products table ...

Be sure to do good backups before attempting this ...

You might look at the Multiple Categories Manager in the bottom of the Copy categories for some of the features down at the bottom of it for changing master categories etc.
