Payment options -no longer working

I hope I'm posting to the write location.

I am running the following:

Server OS: Linux 2.6.23.14 Database: MySQL 5.0.45-log
PHP Version: 5.2.2 (Zend: 2.2.0)
Zen Cart 1.3.0.2
Database Patch Level: 1.3.0.2

I know this is quite old but frankly we don't use this much anymore except for friends to pay via credit card for specific things. The last time something was purchased on the site was close to year now, so it's been awhile.

Recently we tried to do another transaction and the second step of the payment process that allows you to choose the payment type no longer displays. This worked fine in the past and nothing has changed as far as configuration. I have looked at the documentation on configurating payment types and everything looks okay.

I realize that the version of zencart is quite old but the hosting provider seems to have very limited options on what I can do manually.

So I guess my question is " Is a reason for this to stop function based on new version of the php interpreter (or any other) , and is my best option to upgrade to a newer version of zencart?

Short answer: Upgrade.

A wise move would be to upgrade to a newer version of Zen Cart, as it's more secure then the older versions... and it would especially suck to have to explain to your friends how their information was compramised because of a flaw that may have been fixed in the newer versions of Zen Cart. There is no guarantee that an upgrade will how-ever fix the problem with your payment module (mainly because you failed to mention what you were using for payments).

As far as the PHP Version, I believe that 1.3.x works on/in PHP 4 & 5, but pre-1.3.8 doesn't like MySQL 5 that much (and has errors on a fairly regular basis).

Thank you for the response; I am currently working on the upgrade as I agree it's a wise move. I will; before i post again, upgrade. Unfortunately it is very difficult to work with the provider we have chosen. We are using authorize.net as the payment gateway. I was mostly curious what may have changed to cause this; but again, there are no guarantee's. Thank you again ..
