Template Installation

Hello everyone!

I'm not new to Zen Cart, but the last time I used this software was back in 2006... seems things have changed quite a bit since then. On with my question...

I have downloaded a template (Darkness) from the (sorry, site offline) site. Is there some sort of guide to installing these or could somebody guide me through the process?

Due to the fact that I do not know what has all changed and I don't feel like destroying the install, I figured it a good idea to stop by here first

Re: Template Installation

There should be instructions with the template, but basically, you want to upload the folders/files to the corresponding areas of your Zen Cart.

For example, if the template has includes/templates/template_name/css/stylesheet.css, you'd upload the template_name folder to includes/templates/.

Re: Template Installation

There are no instructions with that template.

When you unzip the file, you'll be left with an 'includes' folder. Drag that to your cart's root, and the folders will be placed properly.

Re: Template Installation

That's all that's required to install the template.

Then, go to Admin - Tools - Template Selection

Choose darkness from the dropdown, then go to Admin - Tools - Layout Boxes Controller and click reset.

Got it.

I remember why I loved Zen so much in the past. Looks like all the change has been for the better!

Thanks, Stevesh. I'm not familiar with that template.

Re: Template Installation

For a dark template, this one is very nice. Just be sure and remove that bottom link that is placed on the bottom of each page by default... it goes straight to a squatted domain.

Re: Template Installation

Hi all,

I'm trying to install a template and seem to be stuck. I'm following stevesh's instructions but when I go to Admin Tools and Template Selection I'm not seeing the template there. Does it take some time for the template to be seen or is it available immediately?

Here's what I did:

Right clicked on the includes folder and choose upload.

I uploaded it to the root folder. The includes folder can now be seen in the drop down menu.

Please help me as I am quite new to this and trying to learn as I go.

Thank you very much.

Re: Template Installation

If you have Zen Cart installed in its own folder, you need to upload the template to that folder, not the site root. The template should be available immediately in the admin.
