Easy Populate uploading cataloge problem

How do I upload my new catalog with Easy Populate?
Ive downloaded my catalogue and open it with cal (open office). Ive only changed the names of a few products as a test. Do I need to save the open office spread sheet as a txt file to upload it? The closest I can save as is a .csv file, but that doesn't seem to work.

Ive also tried opening the downloaded catalogue with a text editor and just changing the text description of one product. When I upload this file I get the following;

Re: Easy Populate uploading cataloge problem

No model field in record
To use Easy Populate, EVERY product must have UNIQUE
MODEL name or number

Re: Easy Populate uploading cataloge problem

I seem to have got it working so thats a lot misty.

One thing is still worrying me a little bit. When I upload I get a message saying all the products that were added/ updated, and i also get this message at the bottom;

No model field in record. This line was not imported | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
Upload Complete

This the screen i get when importing the downloaded catalogue txt file into open office calc;
http://www.jameschetwood.com/easy/importpic.jpg

When i save my open office calc document as a csv i get this screen;
http://www.jameschetwood.com/easy/save1.jpg

And then this one;
http://www.jameschetwood.com/easy/save2.jpg

The way I got this working was to mess about with the settings on that last screen. It seems there can be issues with the field and text delimiter when switching from spread sheet to txt based documents.

Is there a standard way this is supposed to be done?
Thanks
James

Re: Easy Populate uploading cataloge problem

So were all the products in your .csv file added to
your zencart install?
Did you also put
EOREOR
at the end of EVERY line?

Re: Easy Populate uploading cataloge problem

How can I define the Categories Description in Easy Populate?

I made one category with the description in the admin and then exported it into Easy Populate so I could use it as a template. Everything appears in Easy Populate except for the Categories Description.
