Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

I might have dreamed it but sure seems like there was an option somewhere about adding number <br> break tags.

I'm wanting to add some break tags between sideboxes on the main page.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Break tags are not used to space out the sideBoxes - you need to use margins in your stylesheet.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Thanks Kim

I've done a lot of experimenting with minor results. The search sidebox is jammed up against the information sidebox which are set to the right side.
The left sideboxes are neatly separated.

Not a huge deal but annoying.

The things I have tried resulted in breaking the layout.

P.S. Is that your bird? I love birds. I had a best little buddy cockatiel for years.

Not a huge deal but the search box is jammed up against the upper sidebox.

Actually, I would prefer to turn that lower search box off entirely and keep the top one but haven't quite gotten that far yet or know if it's even possible without a lot of hardcoding.

Thanks!

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

In your includes/templates/custom/css/stylesheet.css file find this and change & adjust as posted
Original entry

.leftBoxContainer, .rightBoxContainer {
	margin: 0em;
	border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
	border-bottom: 5px solid #336633;
	margin-top: 1.5em;
	}

Edit to resemble this

.leftBoxContainer, .rightBoxContainer {
	margin: 0em;
	border: 1px solid #9a9a9a;
	border-bottom: 5px solid #336633;
	margin: 1em 0em 1em 0em;
	}

To turn the sidebox search off

admn > tools > layoutboxes controller > find search on the right side and turn off

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Thanks kobra

I have search.php turned off. The lower search box is turning on and off with search_header.php both search boxes seem to be operating together.

Grateful to know the css location and such regardless.

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

You should have 2 entries for search

sideboxes/search_header.php - - header search function

sideboxes/search.php - - sidebox advanced search

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Search.php is turned off. Turning it on does not seem to do anything. If I turn off search_header.php both search boxes disappear and both reappear when I turn it on.

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Looks to be a template issue - try switching to the classic template and see if you get the same

What you have in the right column is NOT search.php but is the header search function

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Yes, that is the problem. Which file controls that?

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Do not know what files you have edited in your template but what you can do is open your FTP client and your website in a browser and rename the template specific files one by one refreshing in between until you locate the offending file.

As most of these are .php files - rename to .old > refresh > if not the file name back and move on

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

Thanks much for your help.

I found the file but it was in the default_template bin. My file structure is includes/templates/"custom"

So shouldn't it be going there instead of includes/templates/default_template?

Still looking for the original search box problem.

Yes but it must have been an edit you made at some time -

Replace the core file from an expanded distribution of the same version of Zen Cart as you have

Re: Was I dreaming? Break tag option somewhere?

I started a new thread in the overrides section because I set up a new test cart very carefully and it was doing the same thing. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100268

The override does not seem to be working properly. Everything is defaulting to template_default and the only files that have been changed are the main page from define pages editor, a new template_info.php, and header.php.

Maybe I am missing something obvious.
