styling product listing pages with column layout grid

Mmm... Where is the download link for this mod? Sounds awesome and exactly like what I need right now, but I can't see how to get it...

This may be a good place to post my new mod, Flexible Product Listing (currently identified as v0.9 since I haven't been able to test it live on my (v1.3.7) test site.)

It includes two flavors, the full flex which incorporates the option of Column Grid and can reposition elements of the listing in just about any way imaginable, and the CSS-only which just adds classes to the standard layout for styling control.

The readme with instructions is not complete, so ask for any directions you need if you try it. It is written for Zen Cart v1.3.8, and will not run correctly on earlier versions (due to changes in product_listing.php).

Please let me know how it works, and thanks for testing!

I want to add new fields to the product listing as headings.... does this mod do this?

I can`t work out where to implement snazzy boxes so its around each product listing using the column layout grid mod.

Productboxwanted.jpg attachment shows how I would like each box to look like with using the snazzy box theme.

I have done the necessary steps to install this, however when I copy/paste the code into the tools -> sql patch screen it gives me this error:

Hello all, I'm new to Zen Cart and have just installed V1.3.8a. The only add on I have is the "column_layout_grid" from post #50.

The problem I am having is the products don't always show up in even columns. I am using Firefox and if you "refresh" the browser sometimes everything lines up, other times different products get out of line.

Here is one page that I have the problem with.

It seems the pages with only three items are fine, it's when I have more that it gets goofy on me.

I would love to figure this out as I like the "grid" layout much better.

Any help is appreciated.

I refreshed a dozen times or so and didn't see any changes. Exactly how is it changing for you? Are you sometimes getting the third product dropping down to a new line? Or a product stuck off to the right of where it should be, leaving a gap to the left? What browser(s) are you seeing this in?

I will try to show an example using an X for the product and how it lays out on my page sometimes. Three columns with four rows in the grid. If I refresh my browser sometimes the "Xs" that are sticking out will fall in line .

Then other pages work just fine or if I reload the page

On my computer and at my brothers house, both using firefox, it dose the same thing.

I have tried to "file, save page as" so I could post how it looks, but every time I do, it displays properly in the "saved as" file. I don't know how to save it as a .jpg

Any additional info you need just let me know.

I just got to another machine that has I.E. on it and everything displays fine. I guess my problem is in Firefox.

I don't see a reason why it would be malfunctioning for you, but I do notice that the products are displaying in a table. The mod's /includes/templates/your_template/templates/tpl_modules_product_listing.php will use tpl_columnar_display.php which is all divs if set to Columns in admin, so I wonder if your copy of the mod file is in place. The stock copy of that file will use tpl_tabular_display.php, which would yield the display you have.

Love this mod since it gives us flexibility in re-ordering what we see for each product. Has anyone seen a problem with pagination though? First page looks great but as soon as you select page 2, items no longer are sorted by date added (my default) and instead revert to being sorted alphabetically.

Have you tried the plain Column Layout Grid mod? Does that work as you want?
The Flexible Product Listing changes do not touch the overall product sorting in any way, only the product elements.

where can I download this contribution flexible_product_listing

I have been through all the pages in this thread and I must be blind :)

we have downloaded your template flexible_product_listing file and it works beautifully:D just one thing we are trying to do is put all the information ie name,description, price etc to the right of the picture rather than below how can we acheive this?
