USPS adding 3lbs to weight

Hi,

Having an issue with my USPS - All my products weigh the same, 1.5lbs - when I add products to the cart, it displays the weight correctly, 1.5lbs, but when it gets to the shipping screen for USPS, it's calculating off 4.5lbs - somehow it's adding 3lbs to it, I can't figure it out... Any ideas? (If I increase my product weight to 2lbs, USPS goes up to 5lbs, so it is increasing 3lbs somewhere)

Re: USPS adding 3lbs to weight

The 3lbs is a tare weight for your shipping.

To adjust that value, go to Configuration > Shipping/Packaging and adjust the value for Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight.

Re: USPS adding 3lbs to weight

Hey, I had figured out that whole shipping/packaging thing and also read the faq/wiki - but I'm apparently having trouble understanding just what the whole added percentage:weight thing works out.

And how does ZC define a small/medium vs a large package? (many of the things I ship are relatively light weight, but can be bulky) - thus making it difficult, at times, to make use of things like USPS Flat rate boxes...but that's something else altogether!
