45,000 queries to load my categories? Horrid performance

Well when you add in the 1065 error I'm getting and improper display of the footer, I wonder if that's part of the issue. I think I'll try a stock install without modifications and see if that loads.

1.5 seconds is really strange. I loaded it (and had a partner at a different ISP load it with the same long run result.

I'm going to start with a fresh install and see how it goes.

Well I reloaded the software. Stock install, GZIP on, counts off.

Just loaded in two category trees. The offender now did 95000 queries and took 145 seconds. Now I'm quite confused.

Parse Time: 166.537 - Number of Queries: 94582 - Query Time: 157.72040223514

So can anyone tell me where the SQL code is that loads in categories when you click on a category in the sidebox? It's clear that it's loading in more "depth" than is needed and I'd like to take a look at it.

So I did some homework and SQL tracing and the product is, in fact, loading all the way to the bottom level just to expand a single category. Not sure why it's doing that.

There is also no index that reflected the "where" clause in the query!
