Add to cart not displaying in IE

Hello,

I am having an issue with add to cart buttons in IE, and only on products with attributes... On products with no attributes it still works fine and on the products where it does not work, if i press enter it still adds the product to the cart (when the button does not work there is just the text there saying 'add to cart' with no link).

So without doing anything the add to cart button is now showing on the older versions of IE, but not the latest version.

Any ideas as to why its not showing up in the IE7??

I'm having a similar problem. I have ver 1.3.8a. I've found the following:

If I have the Add To Cart module sitting in it's original place in tpl_product_info_display.php then the button works fine in Firefox but results in no action when clicked in either of IE ver 6 or 7. If I move the Add To Cart module above the Product Description module, the button begins to work perfectly in both flavours of IE as well as in FF.

In ALL cases, the problem only occurs in a product which has attributes.

I've tried moving the Add To Cart module above the Attributes module but it makes no difference. As soon as it's above Product Description it's fine though.

My main PC runs FF and IE ver 7 and XP Pro is automatically updated. My lappy runs IE ver 6 and XP Pro but it ISN'T automatically updated so that seems to rule out the possibility of the problem being attributable to Windows updates.

One other thing I've noticed is that in both instances of IE, I'm able to order a product without choosing an attribute, IN SPITE of the fact that that I have ZC set to insist that a choice is made. In FF I receive the expected warning if I try to order without making a choice.

Note that this problem was evident before I added the Tabbed Products mod.

I wonder if this info will mean anything to some of you who understand Zen Cart a lot more than I do. :)

Im on 1.3.7... www.tbsm.com.au and its the same problem you described..
I'll try moving it above the description but still on the other side of the template..
Trial and error i guess now!!

Sorry, I've been out all day. I checked your site this morning and again just now. I notice you've moved your cart module and that it's now working fine - GREAT. It was interesting that the problem was almost exactly the same as mine, except that your button completely disappeared - mine was still there but just failed to do anything.

Anyway I'm SO pleased I was able to help you with my limited knowledge. I would LOVE to know WHY it behaves this way though. What I want is for my Add To Cart button to be below the attributes so customers are more likely to see them before they push the button, especially as IE allows them to checkout without specifying exactly what they want.

Perhaps someone will have some answers to this. My search has so far not found an answer I can understand.

I wonder if you're still following this issue, Liam. I've discovered the following:

I have many categories with the same three products in each and each product has many attributes arranged in three drop-down boxes. Two of these attribute choices are required and, as you know, when I use IE I can add items to my cart without selecting an attribute. It all works fine in FF.

At the same time, if my Add To Card module is below my attributes, then the Add To Cart button goes dead. Once again, it works in FF, but not in IE. I find that the button works fine in all browser if I move the module ABOVE the Product Description module.

Now I have the results of some testing:

I added a completely new category into which I placed a new (and different) product for which I created two new types of attribute, both of which are required. This new product and attributes works perfectly in all browsers and the required attributes trigger the warning if they aren't selected.

ALSO, I can have the Add To Cart module BELOW the attributes and it works as it should in all browsers. I can copy this product and its attributes and everything still works - FOR THOSE PRODUCTS ONLY. All the others remain with the same problems as before.

However, if I create a new category and create a product to which I add the pre-existing (non-working) required attributes, I get the same problems happening. So while the cart works perfectly on my product with the new attribs, it still plays up with the old ones, no matter how I copy or add them to the products.

Blimey this is getting long-winded! :)

I've checked the way I've listed the attributes and know I've set the various tabs correctly. I may post this as a new topic if someone doesn't notice it in here. How is your cart performing, Liam?

Yes I had tried the Classic template, but I just double checked and the results were the same. All categories work fine in FF, but in IE 6 and 7 I have the same issues.

I've hunted through the forums and have noted that some people with similar issues found that changes that the Google Sitemaps add-on had made to the database caused the problem. I ran the patch you mentioned (see below) in one of the topics, but it made no difference in my case.

I've discovered the reason for my problems! It was something I had added to the main products' descriptions which added a button to call up a help page. What I thought was quite a neat idea was actually a damn nuisance :-)

I've copied the code below so you can see what NOT to do perhaps. Simply removing this piece of code has cured my attribute problem as well as the Add To Cart button issue.

If you have any idea why the code messed things up, it may help me - and others.
