Custom product page keywords

Hello

Need some help customizing (or understanding) includes/modules/meta_tags.php.

I would like the following keywords to be used for a product info page

  1. If custom keywords have not been defined for the product, use the site default keywords + the keywords defined for the current category/subcategory
  2. If custom keywords have been defined, use the site default keywords + category/subcategory keywords + custom keywords defined for the product.

(I am not a php programmer, and the code on includes/modules/meta_tags.php is too complex for an amateur html programmer to understand)

If custom keywords have not been defined for the product, use the site default keywords + the keywords defined for the current category/subcategory
Tutorials/FAQ's in the top nav bar on this page is where you should search for these basic function questions

I have done that search, and did not find the answer.
Specifically, I want to delete the main categories index contribution that is added to the keywords list when no keywords have been defined for the product, and to populate the subcategory's keywords into every product in that category. I think this is custom code in /includes/modules/meta_tags.php, which would be easy if I were a programmer...

If you know of a particular FAQ/ tutorial that contains the answer, your help would be greatly appreciated:smile:

Also, if anyone knows how to set the search algorithm to use ALL the words inserted instead of ANY of the words, that would be very helpful in future searches...

Re: Custom product page keywords

From the link I posted

Categories
To define meta tags for a Category, go to the Admin -> Catalog -> Categories/Products once you're there..click on the meta tag icon (the last one to the right for any given category) and set your content.
Note: A meta tag must contain keywords and description or it is not considered complete, and will be ignored.

Products
If you want to define meta tags for individual Products, you will navigate to that product and click on the meta tag icon to define it.
Note: there are custom settings in Product Types so if you don't want, for example, products_price in the title ... you can globably set the defaults for 1 or all product types.

Re: Custom product page keywords

I have read the faqs, done both of these steps, and get the results coded into the extremely complicated code of /includes/modules/meta_tags.php for a product:

  1. If no keywords are assigned to a product, use a concatenation of the master categories and other parameters to populate the keywords meta_tag
  2. If keywords are defined for the product, use only the keywords defined for the item.
That is not what I want. Specifically
  3. The subcategory keywords are not populated into the product
  4. Some of my products do not need per-item keywords, and the keywords generated from the master index are not relevant for every product, and may cause the search engine to kick me out for too many keywords.
    Hence to request for help
