Analytics and the "Secure & Non-Secure" IE messages

I just trialled the StatCounter. It's very obvious, very easy to use, but I do get the "Secure & Non-Secure" IE messages after installing it, so I removed the code, and the messages are now gone.

Is this normal for StatCounter?

Do Google Analytics users get the same thing?

Re: Analytics and the "Secure & Non-Secure" IE messages

I had Google Analytics for a about 2 months without any error messages like you mention from StatCounter. However, I removed GA because it was slowing down my site when the site 1st loads. I have since gone with Supertracker and it's great! Doesn't slow the site down at all, that I have noticed. Plus all the information you can get is available to you from within your site's Admin area.

Thanks mate. I'll have a look at SuperTracker.

By the way how do people explain to customers about the use of these analytic trackers? My wife was shocked when I first told her about it. :shocking:

Now she realises that it's commonly used on the web, but she still thinks it's creepy, and she's the shop owner!!

If GA tracking is set up correctly it won't give the secure / non-secure warning.

Supertracker won't allow you to do the kind of analysis that GA allows though. You might be able to get some traffic reports out of Supertracker but without proper analysis the information is useless.

Christian.

Check out my site's Privacy Notice where it mentions Cookies. I think it explains it okay. Others may have a better way, which I would love to read.

I suppose you're right. I just wasn't getting much out of GA. I had it all setup then I went into Google's Web Optimizer, which I didn't realize makes you another GA account, which got things messed up. Google doesn't seem to have a way to just delete specific items in your business section so I just removed it from my site. I might look into it again once I learn more about this stuff.

Re: Analytics and the "Secure & Non-Secure" IE messages

I've found that GoStats is a great drop-in replacement for statscounter. Just clicking an ssl option in gostats will prevent any warnings.
