No Search Results or Products Showing

I can't get my search results or products to show. My products do show in the New Products for June.

New with using Zen Cart or any cart for that matter. Don't know if this is a Zen problem or database setting

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

Looks like either a bad file in your templates and overrides or a bad file initially ...

If you switch to the Classic Template, do things work correctly?

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

no, it doesn't work in classic either.

I've installed a new cart as "cart2" and trying to find a way to backup all my work then transfer over and see if problem still exists.

Any suggestions?

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

This could be bad or corrupt files on the server ...

I use Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com which, in the purchased version, allows for an FTP compare of what is on my computer and what is on the server to find bad, corrupt or missing files ...

Since it appears to be happening in both the Classic Template and your custom one, I would think one or more of the original files is bad, missing or other wise corrupted ...

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

okay, I'm using Dreamweaver and 'getting' files right now. Then I'm going to copy my "custom folders" into the cart2.

I'm new at this (obviously). I know I've come across a file that tells me where I can but my "custom" folders, but can't seem to locate it right now. I'm not sure if I put some in the wrong place or not.

Also how can I backup ezpaes and products/categories and current "admin" stuff?

Thanks for helping!

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

btw...my search now seems to be working at least if I type something in that is included in my only product. Outside of that, still a blank screen.

Also, did I mention that when I click on New Product, the product description shows up there?

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

one more thing...

In my 'cart2', when I use search, it comes up to the advanced search screen. I guess this is what should be happening in 'cart', correct?

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

I think I found the problem, or at least A problem and fixed.

I used debug_error_logging_utility and found two additional lines that were on both my custom and classic. After removing these two blank lines...no error log and now pages seem to be working for now.

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

That will do it ...

Sometimes the errors do not appear on screen and the blank shows ... that debugger, compliments of DrByte, is really handy in discovering things ...

Re: No Search Results or Products Showing

What are you using to upload your custom files to your host? A good FTP client is recommended.
