Customers can't create accounts

I recently upgraded to the latest version of Zen Cart, and switched to a new hosting company. Now, I'm trying to create a test customer account and I get an error message.

This is the error message:

"You must select a country from the Countries pull down menu."

I tried selecting various countries from the list, but this message always comes up after hitting the "submit" button.

Re: Customers can't create accounts

Thanks, but that didn't fix the problem. I'm also getting an error message that says "Please enter a company name." That's very odd because it's not supposed to be required info.

Re: Customers can't create accounts

Still having a problem with the "Country".

I solved the company name error, though. I simply set the company name minimum value to "0".

I still need help with the following error:

"You must select a country from the Countries pull down menu."

Hey, I still need help here! I'm just about to relaunch my store, but I can't do so until this problem is fixed.

Re: Customers can't create accounts

That's almost certainly something missing from your template files.
Are you sure that you upgraded every one of your old customized template files to include all the updates applicable to the new version? Including not just template files but also stylesheets and javascript files?

The upgrade documentation in your /docs/ folder explains comparing the files using WinMerge or similar quick comparison programs to quickly identify and merge differences.

Re: Customers can't create accounts

Which template files should I check? Should I only check files in the "template default" folder? I'm using the cherry zen template.

If you switch to the 'classic' template, do you get the same error?

Re: Customers can't create accounts

Ok, problem solved!

Here's what I did: I compared the latest version of "tpl_modules_create_account.php" with my old version and there were some differences. Apparently, the differences were significant enough to cause this problem.

So I just overwrote the old version with the new version and it works perfectly now!

Re: Customers can't create accounts

As part of the upgrade process, you should be comparing ALL your files, including those in any override folders, as well as any changed/added files as part of addons such as templates or other mods/contributions.

Re: Customers can't create accounts

I am having a similar problem. I upgraded and some of my customers can checkout just fine while others cannot. Any insight would be appreciated.

Re: Customers can't create accounts

You are missing at least 2 classes from your stylesheet ...

.hiddenField {
	display: none;
}
.visibleField {
	display: inline;
}

Often times that messes things up ...

Check your Minimum Values ... is Company set to 2? Do you require 2 characters on Company? If not set to 0 ...
