Can't get past the license section on the installation

As soon as I click continue on the LIcense portion of the installation I get this error:

PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 00000000

What I have done so far:

  1. Uploaded the entire web application to my server
  2. renamed the configuration.php files as per the installation instructions.
  3. Run the installation.

Did I miss anything?

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

That's a problem with your Windows server and its PHP configuration, and maybe even the permissions settings configured within the server. It's not related specifically to Zen Cart.
You'll need to approach your hosting company for specific assistance there.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Thanks for that information. I thought it would be something with the permissions on the directories. I'll put a query in to have full access on all those.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

I suggest you tell them what's happening and what you're trying to do so they can see it first-hand.
I doubt it's strictly permissions-related. It seems more server-software-related to me.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

I gave permission and It doesn't error on that page anymore... i just can't get past the license page. It just refreshes the license page... and refreshes... and refreshes.

It submits the form, but doesn't continue.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Alright.

If I don't rename the dist-configuration.php files in admin and the includes section it brings up a scrren telling me all the errors

if I do change the names of the dist-configuration.php files to configuration.php... i get the access violation error. (After giving EVERYONE full access to these 2 files).

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Too bad I can't edit posts.

I just tried to upload it into a new Folder on my web server. Same error occurs when i try to go past the license aggreement.

Now I did get past it once, and it told me I had a bunch of errors and my configure.php files didn't exist... but then it started erroring out again.

Is there a specific version of PHP, or any additonal PHP software needed?

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

So it all works until i get to the phpBB portion of the install.

I dont' want any phpBB, so when I click save phpBB settings, it just goes to a blank page.

Any thoughts?

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

When you click to save settings on the phpBB page, it's trying to write all the settings you entered in all the previous pages into the configure.php files.
If you're getting a blank page at that stage, it suggests that the files are not writable by the webserver and/or the disk quota for the webserver account is maxed or there is insufficient disk space. Those are the most common causes anyway.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

I've given Everyone FULL control of those 2 configure.php files.
I have over 1 gig free space as well.

My hosting support doesn't get past that step either.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Is it writing anything to the configure.php files successfully? Or are they the same as before you started installation?

What is the physical path on the server to your wwwroot folder? Is it on NAS or an external server/drive? These cases can sometimes cause complications.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

It's writing nothing to those files.

This is being put on a Windows 2003 Server.

Root Directory: c:\hosting\webhost4life\member\bicnet\lwd\

(That's also what I put in during the setup).

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Still getting the same issue. I double checked the permissions on the configure.php files, and everyone that can has full permissions.

I tried the directory like:

c:\hosting\webhost4life\member\bicnet\lwd

and

c:/hosting/webhost4life/member/bicnet/lwd

still no luck. Are there any error logs that get generated by Zen-Cart? Or any way of capturing what's happening and displaying it?

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

On a side note:

I haev my main website at:

c:\hosting\webhost4life\member\bicnet

which is running .NEt 3.5

c:\hosting\webhost4life\member\bicnet\lwd is where i'm trying to run this and it's running php 4.4

It should have any issues with that... but that setup should work...

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Edit /zc_install/includes/installer_params.php
change "false" to "true" in this line, as shown: ```
define('STRICT_ERROR_REPORTING', true);

Then try the install process again. It should show you on-screen the problem PHP is encountering.

Re: Can't get past the license section on the installation

Remember that since it's running from the "zc_install" folder, it's really referring to /zc_install/includes/modules/pages/config_checkup/header_php.php
